HOUMA – Did you have problems with federal disaster response?

You can call in your complaints about FEMA to a special hotline this week put on by The Disaster Accountability Project, a nonprofit group that aims to improve disaster response. They’re pushing to have the head of FEMA placed at the level of the presidentís cabinet, saying the agency has gotten lost in the shuffle as part of the countryís homeland security department.

“This week, the group is generating calls from Americans across the United States to tell President Obama that FEMA must be fixed to avoid mistakes of the past and prevent the bungled responses of Hurricane Katrina and more recent disasters like Gustav and Ike from happening in the future,” a release from the group said.
