Hundreds of organizations are working to send aid to the country of Haiti yet we hear about squalid tent cities, Cholera, Rapes, and a contentious runoff election.
It’s been a year since the devastating earthquake rocked the country of Haiti. So what’s the latest on the destruction, and clean-up efforts?
This week the Disaster Accountability Project released their one-year report. It tries to get a handle on how much money was donated to relief in Haiti – and where and how the money was spent.
Today, we’ll find out the results of that report, and hear from a reporter who tells tales of Haiti’s “Reconstruction Hell”: rape, squalor and crime in Port au Prince. All this building up to a runoff election on January 16th – which may be postponed.
We’ll also check-in with some local non-profits trying to help – like The Diocese of Norwich, who’ve drawn controversy for restructuring their relief efforts.
